On This Day :: 1961 Russian Cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin Becomes the First Person to Orbit Earth
Today there is "Cosmonautics Day", but not long before the first person to orbit Earth - there was Ham (chimpanzee, hominid) on January 31, 1961 to orbit Earth.
