#Afterthought: Stadiums or Gardens? Let’s Think Bigger

There are far too many underused stadiums — I see it clearly in Zagreb. Instead of endlessly renovating these concrete relics, why not build botanical gardens? Here's why it makes sense from every angle:

🌍 Climate Perspective

We face an urgent climate crisis. Converting idle stadiums into green spaces like botanical gardens helps cool urban areas, boost biodiversity, and absorb CO₂. It's more than symbolism — it's survival.

πŸ™️ Urban Planning Perspective

Stadiums are large, often empty, and expensive to maintain. Botanical gardens offer public value, recreational space, and promote sustainable land use. They’re a smart investment in livable cities.

πŸ’¬ Cultural/Philosophical Perspective

Continuing to fund giant stadiums sends the wrong message. Building botanical gardens tells nature: We’re ready to work with you again. It's a message of peace, respect, and coexistence.

πŸ§’ Youth / Future Generations Perspective

Botanical gardens educate, inspire, and reconnect young people with the planet. Stadiums serve short-term crowds. Gardens serve future generations.

The message is clear: We don’t need more renovations. We need regeneration. 🌱

A detailed and expressive color pencil sketch (A.I. generated) depicting the concept of "why not build botanical gardens," employing dynamic shading and a rough, vibrant color palette. The sketch should showcase a variety of plant life, possibly juxtaposing lush, thriving gardens against a barren, neglected landscape to illustrate the contrast.  Focus on texture and expressive linework to convey a sense of emotion and thought-provoking imagery.
